Deep Link Advertising

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

When having someone link to your website, paid or not, don’t just have them link to your homepage. Go deeper. Much deeper…

For example, if you have a page about blue widgets, have the link text say ‘blue widgets’ and then have the link go directly to that page. This helps build relevancy between that term and that page.

For example, search for ‘click here‘ on Google. The first result is the Adobe Reader Download page. Simply because that page was linked to with that phrase hundreds (maybe thousands) of times, it created that particular search result.

You can achieve similar results when you properly link pages with the proper phrasing.

Keep in mind that you want to keep any paid links set up in such a way as to avoid detection. That is why this technique works particularly well when creating permanent paid links.

Creating an Online Media Kit

Monday, October 15th, 2007

An online media kit is designed to explain the paid advertising offerings of your website. It is generally a separate page that is prominently linked so advertisers and investors can easily find it. Properly designed, a media kit can answer questions, and generate interest from potential advertisers.

Your online media kit should include the following:

  • Your ad rates and sponsorship opportunities
  • Ad examples
  • Visitor demographics
  • Traffic levels
  • Testimonials from current advertisers
  • FAQs
  • Your contact information (!)
  • If applicable, you may want to include an advertising subscription form so advertisers can begin right away.
  • Try to avoid copy that mentions ‘text link’, ‘SEO’ and ‘PageRank’ on your media kit. Google has made it know that they are targeting sellers of paid links.

Break your page into defined sections, and don’t worry about providing too much information. A well designed kit will help you find targeted advertisers.

On WebAdClassifieds.com, you can include a direct link to your online media kit in your classified post. This information, along with other pertinent information about your domain, is available only to logged-in users of the site.
